South Fork Trail

South Fork Trail #97.
6 miles one way.   The trail's northern portion follows the South Fork of the Little Colorado River for 2 miles.  Several grassy meadows open up the scenery offering a change from the steep-sided canyon that dominates most of the lower trail.

I've been wanting to do this hike but it shows that it is straight up!  I don't like straight up.  I thought we could just explore it for a little ways at least.
We took this little trail first (I'd seen people on it) but it went nowhere.  Weird.  Addie loved this rock because we had just watched V for Vendetta and she thought it looked like it!
On to the real trail.  Addie obviously took this picture and memed it! Lol!
I'd like to find the Mexican Hay Lake Trail Head and start from there!
This hike wasn't as pretty as the other ones.  A little dry and scrubby but it followed the river and it was a  new adventure.  We only went about a mile and a half before we turned around.
This was a super cool hollowed out tree!
As we were heading back, a bicyclist was coming up.  We gave him some room. We had a great dinner and watched Apocalypto that night.  We also finished the first season of Little House on the Prairie (which was awesome!).
In the morning, Jeff unhooked and we headed home.  Addie said she never wanted to leave this place! She already has so many fond memories here!
There's that same cloud that is always there.  (space ship?)  Hmmm?

Lyman Lake

The adventure for today was to head towards St. John's and check out Lyman Lake!

Nobody was in there.  There was a sign saying to go to the General Store and pay you dues.  I think it was $7 for day use.  I almost didn't want to go.  It didn't look like very pretty.
We went to the general store, paid the fee and got a map.
We started with the Pointe Trail first.  I wanted to go left (I don't like straight up) but I got over ruled and I'm glad!  Going the other way would actually have been worse, ha!
I want to go check out that dock when we get back down!
We're done with this hike and jackets are coming off!  Let's go find that dock!
 It's a swimming only area!
Now on to another hike!  The Petroglyphs!
The petroglyphs were definitely cool!  There were other ones but I didn't take pictures of them all.
What is this!!??  We had flash backs to Blue where we saw bear poop every few steps!  Maybe it's not bear poop?  Whatever it is...ewwww!
We were so amazed at how big Lyman Lake was! We saw some teenage girls who had just gone swimming.  They were freezing and said the water was cold!  Ya I bet it was!  I'm so glad we stopped and explored this place! I'd love to come here, rent a little cabin and swim (when it's warmer)!  We headed on to St. John's and had lunch at a cute little country restaurant.  It took about 5 minutes to explore St. John's and we left.  Addie took a nice long nap on the way back.  We weren't done for the day!  I had another hike I wanted to do!
